CORE Welcomes Director of Innovation and Process Improvement

Veteran process improvement expert Michael Gerusky joins OPO team

Pittsburgh, Jan. 11, 2018 – The Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) is welcoming Michael T. Gerusky as its director of innovation and process improvement. Gerusky has nearly 30 years of process and quality improvement experience across a variety of regulated industries, including the medical field. Gerusky has led process improvement initiatives that include technical and transactional processes.

In his role at CORE, Gerusky will apply his experience to develop and implement a process and quality improvement plan in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.

“I value this opportunity to further enhance CORE’s outstanding culture of operational excellence,” said Gerusky. “On a personal level, I’m honored to contribute to an organization that makes a positive impact on society each day through its mission.”

With more than 117,000 people waiting for an organ transplant nationally — including more than 2,500 in CORE’s service area — the need for organ, tissue and cornea donors is great.

“Michael brings a notable track record of achieving results through his extensive quality and continuous improvement expertise,” said Susan Stuart, president and CEO, CORE.  “We know his experience and leadership will further CORE’s commitment to fulfilling our mission of coordinating life-saving organ transplants and life-enhancing cornea and tissue transplants.”
